AMTOB honours disabled FFs : Bangladesh

Four third-generation (3G) licence holding private cell phone operators honoured some 325 physically-challenged freedom fighters and members of martyred freedom fighters' families by handing over smartphones with SIM cards to them.


The operators -- Airtel, Banglalink, Grameenphone and Robi Axiata- under the banner of Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) honoured them with the technology products at a ceremony organised by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) at the National Museum Auditorium Tuesday.


Minister for Posts and Telecommunications (MoPT) Rashed Khan Menon attended the event as the chief guest while Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu, Minister for Shipping and Liberation War Affairs Shahjahan Khan and Secretary of MoPT Md Abubakar Siddique were present as special guests.


BTRC Chairman Sunil Kanti Bose chaired the programme.


AMTOB Secretary General T I M Nurul Kabir gave the welcome address in the programme.


He said MNOs are proud to be a part of honouring national heroes by sponsoring the 3G enabled handsets to the disabled freedom fighters and members of martyred freedom fighters' families.


BTRC Vice-Chairman Md Giashuddin Ahmed and some freedom fighters also spoke on the occasion where representatives of mobile phone operators were also present.
