Special children celebrate sports day : SriNagar

The children’s and patients with physical disabilities associated with Voluntary Medicare Society on Friday took part in mega sports event held at campus play-field Bemina.



 In the event special children of Shafaqat Special School and Life Line patients with spinal injuries of Shafaqat Rehabilitation Centre participated in football basketball, badminton and cricket and exhibited their skills.


 “Voluntary Medicare Society has a mission to provide opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive games,” said President Voluntary Medicare Society Srinagar Dr Mir Muhammad Maqbool, while welcoming guests.


 He said that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life among physically challenged.


 The function was presided over by Secretary General Indian Red Cross, Roma Wani, who declared the games open.


 Speaking on the occasion Roma Wani stressed the need for providing friendly environment to Physically Challenged. She said “the results of efforts put in by VMS is being reflected through the activities of these physically challenged who have potential to do wonders if provided opportunity in every sphere of life”.


 Later Prizes and Medals were distributed among the participants by the Chief Guest.
