15 from Karnataka get best teachers' award : New Delhi




Maedansab Kotwal, headmaster of government primary school Number-1 at Ashraya colony in Koppal district, was among 15 school teachers from Karnataka who received national awards from President Pranab Mukherjee for their outstanding contribution in teaching and motivating children to achieve excellence in studies.

Kotwal, who is himself physically challenged, was honoured with the national award under special category for his efforts in helping physically challenged children get education.

He puts a lot of effort to bring back dropouts children into his school. He was one of the recipients of Best Teacher Award in the state for 2007-08.

Padmini S, headmistress of RV Girls’ High School in Jayanagar, Bangalore, was another recipient of the prestigious award under special category.

The award was given for adopting computer-aided teaching-learning methodology in her school and her efforts to educate special children, especially those suffering with dyslexia. She received the best teacher award for 2007-08 in the state.

M Puttarudraradhya, head master of government upgraded higher primary school at Honnenahalli, Bangalore Rural district, Premila Bai V Diggavi, assistant teacher at government higher primary school, Sharansirasagi Tanda, Gulbarga, Tammanna Narayan Komar, headmaster of government higher primary school, Bidrakan, Siddapur in Uttar Karnataka were the other recipients of the national award under primary teachers category.

Awards were also conferred on R Shivamma, headmistress of government model higher primary school, Geddalahalli, Bangalore North Range-2, Hajimalanga baba, headmaster of Government Higher Primary School, Adipura, Raichur district, Prema K R, headmistress of government higher primary school, at Gobbalikaval in Hassan district, Gandigeppa F Durgappanavar, a teacher at government porimary school number-1, Devagiri Taluka, in Haveri district.

Radhakrishna Upadhyaya, drawing teacher at Government Composite High school, Volakad, in Udupi district, C  Lakshmana, horticulture teacher at Government PU College (High School SEC), Kadugudi, in Bangalore district, Doddappa Hanamappa gaddanakeri, assistant teacher at Shri HUP government high school, Tulasigeri, Bagalkot district and Maharudrappa Anadur, assistant teacher at SES Gowribai Agarwal Composite Junion College, Chitguppa, in Bidar district, received the award under secondary school teachers category.
