Eleven teachers
carrying out polio vaccination in Bara Khyber Agency have been
reportedly kidnapped when they were preparing to set out for the
vaccination drive.
A political administration official confirmed that the workers had been abducted from a school in the Sipah area of Bara Khyber Agency where they had gathered to start polio vaccination for the three-day polio drive which started on November 20.
The official said that the three-day campaign had ended on Friday but continued on Saturday to cover denial cases and the remaining children who had not been vaccinated, Dawn reports.
The report said that
Khyber Agency is one of the most volatile areas for the polio virus
where at least 16 cases have been reported during 2013 and Bara has been
leading because a number of children have missed out on the campaign
due to the law and order situation.
