A Naga boy, Imtinunchet Aier, has emerged as the only national
winner from the North East, who participated in the essay and painting
competition held at NEZCC Dimapur on February 13 on the theme “My living
icon” organized by Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage
(INTACH) on a national level.
The national winners were felicitated in Jaipur, Rajasthan from May
4 to 6. The award was presented by eminent socialist D.R. Mehta
(founder and chief patron of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti
(BMVSS). Imtinunchet Aier, a class 8 student of The Maple Tree school,
Dimapur, painted popular Naga singer Alobo Naga on the theme ‘My living
icon’, where participants had to select a living person from one’s
region.
According to a press release, issued by The Maple Tree school
director, Imtinunchet was one of the eleven national winners selected
from around 6000 entries, adding receiving the award was quite an
achievement. Imti was accompanied on his free trip by The Maple Tree
School art teacher Aten Nokdir.
