Rural BPO fuels employment dreams for PwDs @ udupi , Karnataka !

Simply Grameen, a domestic BPO company, has opened its branch at Thekkatte, raising employment hopes of youth in Udupi, Kundapur and surrounding regions. The organization heads have decided to recruit students from economically poor families and socially backward communities. Physically challenged persons will also be given priority here.

According to the organizational policy, SSLC and PUC dropouts will be selected for the training for six months and they will be recruited once they prove their competence. About 40 persons have been shortlisted for both voice and non-voice processes and there will be 300 employees in two years.

Sarvotham Pejavar, CEO of Simply Grameen, told STOI that this company has been operating in Mandya district since 2010 and he chose Thekkatte as the location to open Simply Grameen's branch to provide jobs to people in his native place.

Pejavar previously worked in higher positions in Wipro, Standard Chartered bank among other private companies, but later on with the help of like-minded people formed Simply Grameen.
Sarvotham said that providing more job opportunities in rural areas is his objective. The BPO prefers people located within 20 to 25-km distance from Thekkatte.

Currently, a process involving e-publishing work has been obtained by the Thekkatte branch. The BPO will begin full-fledged operation in the first week of April, he added.

Varadarajan, centre head, said that during the training period, employees are offered Rs 2,500 as monthly stipend and salary up to Rs 5,000 will be paid once the employment is guaranteed.
