OU to Give 25 pc Weightage to Sports for MPEd Courses - Hyderabad

The Osmania University (OU) made a slight change to the entrance test for admission to Master of Physical Education (MPED) courses in three universities in Telangana. OU, which conducts entrance tests for two other universities in the state, Telangana University (TU) in Nizamabad district and Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) in Nalgonda, introduced 25 percent weightage for sports record of candidates in the admission process for MPED courses.

From this academic year, entrance test for MPED courses in these three universities will be held only for 75 marks which are  multiple choice questions.
The remaining 25 marks will be awarded to the candidates by the respective departments based on their achievements in sports, said, Prof Ch Gopal Reddy, director of admissions, OU. Earlier this exam used to be conducted for 100 marks.
The duration of M.Ed course has been extended to two years from the existing one year.
The university decided to continue the previous syllabus and pattern for the entrance test.
The OUPGCET-2015 will be the first entrance test by OU after formation of separate State. Though TU and MGU are now well established, they still lack enough infrastructure and human resources to conduct their own entrance exams. This year, the university has also reduced the application fee for candidates belonging to SC, ST and physically challenged category from `400 to `200.
It may be recalled that the online application process for OUPGCET-2015 has already commenced on April 15 and it will be over by May 13. The syllabus for entrance test of all courses has been updated on the university’s website. No new courses have been added this year, Gopal Reddy said.
