Bank of India handed over keys of a rescue vehicle to Dr.Atul
Shrivastava (IFS), Director Van Vihar Bhopal fulfilling a long felt need
of Van Vihar as the vehicle shall be used for fetching wounded wild
animals from across the state for the treatment at rescue at Van Vihar.
On this occasion Ajit said that the Corporate Social Responsibility
activities of the Bank touch the lives of millions of poor and needy
across the length and breadth of the country.
The focus area of Banks CSR activities are supporting education, supporting health care assistance to poor and underprivileged, environment protection, livelihood creation and assistance during natural calamities like floods/ droughts etc. He also advised that the bank has set up State Bank Foundation to exclusively took after CSR activities. During the past two years SBI provided 1,40,000 electric fans to 14000 needy schools across the country.
Infrastructure support by way of furniture, computers and other education accessories and donation of large number of school buses/ vans to the physically challenged children and children belonging to economically weaker sections of society have been provided by the Bank.
The Bank installed more than 30000 water purifiers in schools. During the same period bank donated 310 ambulances worth Rs.18.38 crores to NGOs operating in rural and semi urban centres of all states to help in delivering quality healthcare, particularly to those belonging to underprivileged and economically weaker section of the society.
Dr.Shrivastava acknowledged the contributions of Bank to Van Vihar with gratitude and made mention of Golf Cart donated by the Bank in the past and also expressed thanks for State Bank’s continuous support under tiger adoption scheme of the Van Vihar.
