Plan to launch Pakistan Disabled Sports Association : Islamabad ( Pakistan )

Sheikh Abdul Waheed former director Public Relation Pakistan Cricket Association (PDSA) for Physical Handicapped announced to launch Pakistan Disabled Sports Association.

He made this announcement during an interview with The Nation on Sunday. He said to fulfill his promise to help out physically challenged sportsmen, he with the active help of few friends had completed all the paper work and had registered the association and on request of his friends he had accepted chairmanship of the association with Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry as the secretary.

“The main purpose of establishing PDSA is to provide the handicapped players a platform where they could utilise their talent in best possible fashion. We had very actively worked with PCAPH for almost two years or so. It is because of our tireless efforts, we managed to arrange number of home and away international series and that too at a time when nobody was ready to tour Pakistan. But when we witnessed number of irregularities, we decided to part our ways.”

He said now they will soon announce countrywide trials first for cricket, hockey and football. “We will hire specialist coaches of respective categories and professional coaches would conduct trails. In the second phase trials for badminton, table tennis, snooker and basketball would be held.

“The main and only aim of launching PDSA is to provide handicapped persons a very reasonable source of earning bread and butter for their families and give them an atmosphere where they could fulfill their dreams, to keep a close check on our activities. Nothing could be achieved without sufficient amount of funds. For this purpose we had already contributed hefty amount and deposit that amount in PDSA accounts. All the players would be given central contracts, and every contracted player will at least earn Rs 5000 every month. Although Rs 5000 is not an extra-ordinary amount, but at least it would help ease out players burden to some certain extent and players would earn reasonable amount of money during competitive action. Besides we are also working on sponsorship deals, if we managed to struck a deal, only the players would be the direct beneficiaries.”
