The Delhi University has come up with alternative courses for persons
with disability who find it difficult to adjust to the existing
courses.
The move came after some of the students were found struggling to
cope with two foundation courses, viz.; ‘Building Mathematical Ability’
and ‘Science and Life.’ which were recently introduced.
The varsity, in a notification, said that physically challenged
students would be offered alternative courses if they are unable to
manage the newly introduced foundation courses.
University officials said that students with disabilities may be offered alternative courses such as Mathematical Awareness and History of Science.
The Mathematical Awareness course will focus only on the literature of mathematics where the students will study the literature of mathematics and the contributions of renowned mathematicians in this field.

Likewise, in history of science, students will be taught only the literature of science.
Officials said that those who want to take up building mathematical ability and science and life will be allowed to do so. They added that the university will also provide them with parallel remedial classes.
Recently, the university was dragged to the court by an NGO for introducing the four-year programme, which they highlighted was not disabled-friendly.
