A two-day job fair for people with physical disabilities
will be jointly organized in the city by Kamayani Training and Research
Society, a non-governmental organization and Sarthak Educational Trust
of New Delhi, on August 29. The job fair will be held at Kamayani
Society.
A statement issued by Kamayani Training and Research Society said, "We had conducted a similar fair last year. Out of 1,000 participants, 104 were recruited by different IT companies."
This year, 700 students with disabilities are expected to attend the job fair, the statement said. Top companies like IBM, Wipro, Infosys, Croma, Dominos, Vishal Mega Mart, Aegis, Tech Mahindra among others will participate in the fair. Those who are interested should be present at Kamayani on the said date.
Arvind Kulkarni, chairman of Kamayani said mostly computer work related desk jobs were offered to the majority of the candidates. Kulkarni said his organization is just a medium to help bridge the gap between the corporates and the candidates with certain disabilities.
"According to a rule, three per cent seats in every company must be reserved for people with disabilities. But those positions are not being filled and hence, there is a lot of scope for people with disabilities to get employment," said Kulkarni.
