Minor in car hits 10 pedestrians : Mumbai

A 15-year-old driver rammed his four-wheeler into a two wheeler meant for the physically challenged before ramming into 10 pedestrians at Achole Road in Nalasopara (east). The minor has been arrested.

Pranjal Warang was driving the Maruti Omni (MH 04 ET 6388) which rammed into a two wheeler driven by Mangesh Garate (32) who is affected with polio on both the legs. His mother Taramati (58) was with him.

The two-wheeler fell on the road but the driver continued to speed away knocking down 10 people, including a senior citizen and three school children. A woman Priyanka Jadyar (28) was among the pedestrians who was mowed down. She got seven stitches on her forehead.

All the victims are being treated at Alliance hospital.

The driver was caught by locals and handed over to the police. Angry crowd damaged his car.

The details about the owner of the driver is still to be ascertained, said PI Mukund Mahajan of the Nallasopara police station. It is not known whether the minor was drunk.
