GK Mahantesh, founder-managing trustee welcomed the recent trend of companies showing a ready acceptance for offering employment to people with disabilities in all sectors. He suggested that organisations should also explore the possibility of providing reasonable accommodation and work place solutions to such disabled employees. “Technology has also made its mark in providing assistance to the persons with disabilities and it has also substantially removed the barriers that come in the way of their work performance,” he added.
“A Disability Sensitisation session is also being held to bring together all SSLC/Diploma/ Graduates/Engineers/Post-Graduate candidates with disability and the employers from all sectors under a single roof to provide equal employment opportunities, so as meet their livelihoods,” said Rapa Philip, Secretary, Cheshire Disability Trust.
“Persons with disabilities are among the most marginalised section of society, who are deprived of the basic facilities and rights. The barriers put by the environment and the society deprives them from accessing their basic rights of education, livelihood and a life with dignity,” said Basavaraj from the Association of People with Disability.
