Rupam lends voice for physically challenged kids

In an initiative to illuminate the lives of the physically challenged children, leading Bengali rockstar Rupam Islam has lent his voice to a new album of contemporary singers. Crooning the tracks at 'Beyond Belief' programme, attended by the children and elders, Rupam said "I had long thought to be of use to such people. They are more precocious than your and mine children. They are more god-gifted." Recalling when he was sounded by Kolkata Sukriti Foundation and Lions Club International for the project, Rupam said the track in 'Condition Free' will inspire at least one child to conquer the seemingly inevitable in lives. The Fossils frontman, who has also lent voice to many popular Bengali tracks, said "the performance of 12 of these children in a dance drama changed my perspective of life." Apart from Rupam, popular lyricist-singers Surojit Chatterjee of Bhoomi, Anindyo Chatterjee of Chandrabindoo, Sidhu (Cactus), Rupankar and music director-singer Neel Dutta sung other title track numbers. "This is not a Ripley's Believe it or not show, this is not fiction. This is also a reality show of challenged children who have time and again proved how much able they are than us,"" Sukriti Secretary Abhijit Dasgupta said.
