Racing against stereotypes, almost 1,000 kids to take part in 15th Triumph Run

Even though they will run only for 60 to 80 metres, more than 950 children from Mumbai, Thane and Nashik will participate with all their might for the 15th Triumph Run that will be held on February 8 at Thane.
Organised by Triumph Foundation (Thane Hills Rotary in the Upliftment of the Mentally and Physically Handicapped) since 2000, the number of participants in the event has gone up tremendously

Even though they will run only for 60 to 80 metres, more than 950 children from Mumbai, Thane and Nashik will participate with all their might for the 15th Triumph Run that will be held on February 8 at Thane.


In addition to racing, the physically and mentally challenged, deaf and mute, visually impaired and slow learners will get a chance to express themselves through various activities like painting, clay modelling and cultural events.


Organised by Triumph Foundation (Thane Hills Rotary in the Upliftment of the Mentally and Physically Handicapped) since the year 2000, the numbers of participants have gone up tremendously.
In the press conference held by the NGO on Tuesday, they said that cash prizes and medals will be distributed across all categories to every group participating. The cash prize ranges up to Rs2.5 lakh, which they have promised to distribute among winners. A team of eight doctors and an ambulance will be on standby, in case of any emergency.


The panelist at the conference said that with the age limit being eight to 16 years, activities for younger children have also been planned. The event has been kept early in the morning to avoid fits and convulsions which may occur due to rising heat.


Former DGP, Maharashtra, D Sivanandan IPS, Jt CP, Thane, Lakshminarayana IPS and singer Hariharan will be gracing the occasion.
