Education Access for Children With Disablties !

The information was provided by officials attending the State Co-ordination Committee meeting chaired by State Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar here on Thursday, according to an official press release issued here.
It was informed in the meeting that a total of 91,257 differently abled children have been benefitted by the ‘Inclusive Education Programme’ of the State Government.



Under the programme, corrective surgeries were conducted for visually impaired children besides offering of prosthatic equipment to the physically disabled children.

This apart, a total of 1,246 visually impaired children were provided Braille supported text books.So far eye check-ups had been conducted on 47,620 children of government schools.
The officials also informed that a provision of Rs13.50 crore had been made for the next financial year for providing computer education to children.

The meeting reviewed the proposed strategy to be adopted for conduct of work under ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ in great detail for 2013-14 with a budget provision of an estimated Rs3,062 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in Chhatisgarh, Reena Kangale made a slide presentation on the proposed strategy for the next year and the work accompalished under the campaign.

This was apart from the detailed information given by her on the current status of  education in the State.
It was also informed in the meeting that the Government would open 165 new schools in the State in which 78 would be primary schools and 87 would be secondary schools during the next financial year.
A provision of Rs55.31 crore had been made for distributing free text books to students of First to Eight standard in government schools besides offering 10-day training to more than 1.88 lakh teachers in the State.
This was apart from providing special training to 45,000 untrained teachers of the School Education Department.

So far, 79,761 untrained teachers had already undergone training in the State.  A large number of other projects were reviewed by the Chief Secretary in the meeting.

Senior officicals who were present in the meeting were—Additional Chief Secretary, D S Mishra, Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department R S Vishwakarma, Secretary , Tribal Welfare Department, Manoj Pingua and Secretary , School Education K R Pisda.

Secretary of Woman and Child Development Subrat Sahu, director of Sarva Shikha Abhiyan, Government of India Maninder Kaur Dwivedi, Director Public Relations, Sonmani Bora, Director, State Educational Research and Training Council Anil Rai were also there, besides other members of the State Co-ordination Committee.

A total of 36,750 government schools in Chhattisgarh now have ramps for differently abled children.
