Anakapalle MP Sabbam Hari handing over tricycles to physically challenged persons at a function organised by the Department for Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday

In a bid to address the needs of the differently-abled persons Anakapalle MP Sabbam Hari took advantage of the changed MPLADS guidelines and funded tricycles to 200 physically challenged persons.
Participating
in a function organised by the Department of Welfare of Disabled &
Senior Citizens here on Tuesday, he handed over the tricycles to 50
persons and assured to extend all help to provide aids to the
differently-abled persons in the district.
He urged the Assistant Director Disabled Welfare G Narasimhulu to take up a survey of the differently-abled in the district and list out their requirements and promised to fund all the expenses for providing aids to the needy. He also assured that he would rope in civil society organisations to offer services like surgeries.
Criticising the ‘lopsided’ policies of the government in addressing the needs of the differently-abled, he pointed out that the hostel for the visually challenged was located in a remote locality . The officials who run the welfare departments have often not bothered to take into consideration the ground realities, while the normal persons and corporates were being given space in the city centre, those who need assistance of others are provided hostels in inaccessible areas, the MP said.
While 50 persons from Anakapalle constituency attended the distribution function, aids would be distributed to another 150 at the mandal-level soon, the AD explained. He thanked the MP for accommodating the request for funding physical aids for the disabled from his MLPADS.
A number of officials and non-officials apart from the family members of the beneficiaries attended the function.

A good initiative by the Andra Pradesh govt. These tricycles will help the handicapped and disabled live their life independently.
