Srinagar : The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) donated relief material and wheel
chairs to the differently able children in a health camp which was held
in Boniyar Uri.
The health camp was organized by CRY Fellow Ambreen Bashir with the
support from IRCS Srinagar and Hope Disability Center (HDC) Baramulla at
Primary health Center, Boniyar.
“The purpose of the camp was to assess the quantum of disability and
steps taken to improve their functional mobility either through surgical
intervention, physiotherapy or by counseling of parents,” the CRY
fellow said.
More than 25 children were assessed by the psychiatric, occupational therapist and general physician.
“Despite the bad weather majority of the parents turned up with their
challenged children carrying on their shoulder from far flung areas
because they don’t want their child to remain dependent and face the
stigma of isolation and neglect. They want them to be the respectable
citizens of the society,” Ambreen said.

children was organized in Boniyaar to ensure the productive outcome for
the children with special need.

research conducted by fellow will not be wasted and we will definitely
follow these cases in order to ensure maximum recovery of these children
as suggested by doctors,” he said.

therapy will be given to them on weekly and training will be given to
their parents also because our motive was to make them independent and
stay healthy.
