: National Identity Cards, monthly assistance,
appliances, old age pension and green houses were distributed to
differently abled persons at the special camp held here on Saturday.
About 700, including 312 women and 169 children from Ramanathapuram and Nainarkoil blocks, attended the camp.

Heads
of 16 departments, including rural development, revenue, social
welfare, backward classes and adi-dravida, education, lead bank and
cooperative bank attended the camp to provide on-the-spot assistance to
eligible persons.
The camp, fourth in the series, is
being organised by the district administration in all block headquarters
to enable the differently abled to meet officials under one roof and
avail the assistance on the spot.
Six more camps would be held in the coming Saturdays, official sources said.
Sivakasi
A
special camp to evaluate differently-abled persons for providing
various assistance under the MLA’s Constituency Development Fund was
held here on Saturday.
The Minister for Information
and Special Schemes Implementation and Sivakasi MLA, K.T. Rajendra
Balaji, inaugurated the camp in the presence of Collector, T.N.
Hariharan.
The selected persons could get callipers,
white canes, wheelchairs, hearing aid and Braille watches, among others.
A total of 140 petitions seeking identity cards for the disabled, 225
petitions seeking assistive devices and 76 seeking maintenance allowance
for the differently-abled were received.
