Three per cent job reservation for differently-abled persons would be
implemented at the earliest, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He was
inaugurating the state conference of the Differently-Abled People’s
Conference (DAPC) on Saturday.
“The government is coordinating
different department heads and conducting adalats. We are also working
to come up with a notification for special recruitment. The proceedings
for this would be accelerated,” he said. The Chief Minister also pointed
out that the UDF government would consider all issues related to the
problems of the differently-abled. Union Minister for Food and Civil
Supplies K V Thomas, who addressed the conference congratulated the
state government for addressing the issues of the differently-abled
people. “The Centre would try to develop special projects and will give
full support to the initiatives of the state government. The UPA
government has initiated several schemes for the welfare of the
differently-abled,” he said.
