A Kannur based physically challenged
senior citizen has approached Human Rights Commission demanding Rs
40,000 compensation from CPM for imposing a two year ‘ooruvilakku’
(ostracisation) on his family following a land dispute.

The
petitioner, Narayanan, 60 of Kilaloor of Peralassery, Kannur has
approached the commission after the CPM party cadres attempted to
disrupt the marriage of his daughter who is a bus conductor.

Six days before the wedding of Narayan’s daughter MK Jaseena, on September 6, the cadres blocked way to his house using boulders and wooden log.
Though Chakkarakkal police came and removed the barriers, after two days several truck loads of slush was unloaded before the house using tipper lorry.
Though he approached the CPM leaders with pleas, they asked him to first withdraw an earlier police complaint against some party workers.
Before few months, a complaint for pouring kerosene into the well which was the only drinking water source of the family. Apart from this all kinds of labourers were banned from working in the farm of Narayanam.
