Education is the Key to Empowerment' : Visakhapatnam

Only better education and awareness can truly empower people by helping them know and understand their rights and use the benefits of the welfare schemes being implemented by the governments in the state and the centre, said Panchayat Raj minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu. He urged the people in rural areas to come forward and obtain the benefits under various government schemes.

Ayyanna Patrudu was addressing the valedictory function of the three-day Public Information Campaign (PIC) conducted by the Press Information Bureau and other media units of Information and Broadcasting Ministry along with the Visakapatnam district administration at Narsipatnam in the district. As the chief guest of the function, he lauded the efforts of organisers in dissemination of information in the rural areas.


At the event, the Department of Rural Water Sanitation stood first as the best stall while ICDS, DRDA, HPCL and DWAMA departments bagged best stalls award respectively. The Best Services stall award was bagged by the Aadhaar Card stall. The minister and the MLAs presented mementoes to the participants at the valedictory function. Prizes and certificates also were distributed to the winners of various competitions and best students, and NCC and NSS cadets who participated in the rally on the opening day.


The cultural programmes presented by students of various schools attracted the crowds, while the performance by physically challenged students received a rousing applause from the visitors. A job mela was also organised on the occasion where nine companies participated and offered jobs to 571 aspirants.
