The Urban Haat amphitheatre will reverberate with song and music on
Saturday, as Mumbai-based Blind Persons' Association will stage a
musical show by visually challenged performers.
This show is part of a fund-raising activity for a business venture to benefit 400 blind couples of Vangani village in Badlapur. A few of them will also perform in the three-hour ticketed musical show.
Students and faculty of D Y Patil University's School of Management have joined hands to put up the show. Sonia Justin Raj, assistant professor at the Business School, said, "Last year, we worked on a project with women from Bhandara in Vidharbha that received great response. We are hopeful about the success of our new project as well."

The blind couples of the village have responded favourably to a business
model developed by the management students and faculty of D Y Patil
University.
They are being taught to make viable products like paper bowls, paper jewellery and shoe boxes.
"Initially, few self-help groups will be inducted but we intend to gradually turn the village into a hub of production," added Raj.
