Hearing-Assistive Devices
At the UCSD Audiology and Hearing Aid Center, we take into account not only your hearing test results, but also your age, lifestyle, and general communication needs. For instance, a 75-year-old retired person living a sedentary lifestyle will have different communication needs from a 40-year-old singer or a 50-year-old telephone operator! There are many new types of communication and hearing assistive devices available now that weren’t available even ten years ago, and your UCSD Audiologist has the training and experience to work with you to find what best fits your individual needs. Moreover, our Audiology Center works closely with our Otolaryngology Research Scientists, who are working every day on exploring causes and new treatments for hearing disorders.
