Around 70 persons associated with 'Viklang Pragati Mandal’ reached the district collector office during the weekly public hearing and pleaded for waiving off the power bills of Rs 39717 pending against the organisation. Shivnarayan Jadhav, president of the society, said that organisation is engaged in welfare of the disabled persons and getting no fund under any government or semi government scheme. The organisation has been conducting mass marriage functions for them from 1999 in which 360 handicapped couples have been benefited so far.
Besides, the organisation runs a skill development programme on its premises at Bakshibagh, Kothi 2 near Imli Bazaar Square. Jadav claimed that the organisation has helped around 150 disabled persons in getting government and private jobs.
The organization’s building is a house of 17 disabled persons, who live and study for a brighter future. The administration should waive off the power bills pending against the organization, reasoned Jadhav further asking the officials concerned to help them getting grant from the government for the social cause. The officials concerned assured them of looking into the matter.
