Thanks to his Nach Baliye commitments, Vinod Thakur who is
handicapped and has become a performer with his grit and determination,
had to say no to an invitation by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to attend a rally in Gujarat.
The able performer visits various cities for his performances and
doesn't want his handicap to be treated like a sob story. He says, "I
don't want people to sympathise with me." He doesn't want to be taken
for granted and feels that the judges on the show are not giving him
marks because he is handicapped, but because of his talent and
dedication. He says, "I have a question for the government of the
country. Everyone who is talented and has made a name for themselves,
get a fixed job that sustains them for the rest of their lives. Even
cricketers are given jobs apart from their games. Why is the government
not doing anything for the handicapped individuals who want to work? Why
can't there be a provision for handicapped individuals too who can earn
and have a source of income?"
