Govt committed to provide opportunities for special people: Speaker - Pakistan

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said on Tuesday the parliament and the government were fully aware of the needs of special people and would take all possible measures to provide them equal opportunities. He was talking to a group of special persons, who called on him led by Syed Sardar Ahmed Piracha, the first blind journalist of Pakistan, here at the Parliament House. Ms Kishwer Zehra, MNA, was also present in the meeting.

The Speaker said the government was determined to make Pakistan a place where everyone had equal opportunities to participate in all walks of life with dignity and self-esteem.

“We aim to promote a better understanding of disability issues with a focus on the rights of persons with disabilities and gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of the political, social, economic and cultural life of their communities,” he added.

He said,”We are committed to build a hopeful future for all segments of our society, including the ones with disability. Our challenge is to provide all people with the equality of access they need and deserve. Ultimately, this will create a better world for all.”

Earlier he welcomed the entire group in the Parliament House and asked them to provide feedback about their visit.
