Dr. Nasser Al-Brahim, director of the Medical Rehabilitation Department
at the Jeddah Health Affairs, launched a meeting on the Medical and
Social National Registry Project for persons with disabilities on
Thursday at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Jeddah.
Al-Brahim confirmed that
specialists at the Medical Rehabilitation Department have already
coordinated two meetings during the past two years with the active
participation of government agencies related to disability. These
efforts have resulted in achieving important recommendations, he said,
including the urgent need to work on the preparation and establishment
of a national medical and social registry system for persons with
disabilities in Saudi Arabia.
Cooperation is ongoing with the
Ministry of Social Affairs and King Abdul Aziz City for the
implementation of the study that aims to determine specifications for
this national project, he said.
The meeting included a medical
workshop as a whole-day activity and was attended by representatives
from government agencies and charities. The workshop also included
several topics related to the diagnosis and treatment of people with
special needs and speech problems, as well as the latest developments in
physiotherapy and modern techniques in the treatment of motor
impairment.
