On the occasion of World Disability Day on Tuesday, the state
government felicitated 23 disabled persons and five organisations
working for the uplift of disabled. Honouring the disabled, state
minister for disabled welfare Ambika Chaudhary said the government has
expedited the recruitment process for the disabled. To clear the
backlog, nearly 2,500 disabled persons have been given jobs, he added.
Chaudhary said people should be sensitive towards differently abled.
Insensitive people are like machines, said Chaudhary. In the
self-employed disabled category, Poonam Kumari from Moradabad, Dr Nihal
Raza Askari from Faizabad, Anil Kumar Srivasatava from Kanpur were
felicitated.
Preeti Chandra from Lucknow was honoured for her contribution in the field of placements while Arunima Sinha from Ambedkarnagar was honoured for doing unusual creative work. Besides, Mohd Gulzar from Meerut and Neha Mehrotra from Allahabad were honoured for being the role models for the disabled and Shraddha Srivastava was felicitated for serving the disabled.
