PU to launch helpline for visually impaired students - Chandigarh

For hundreds of visually impaired and physically challenged students at Panjab University (PU), the authorities have decided to launch a helpline to help them in filling their examination and fee submission forms. The helpline will start from next week.

The students will only be required to call on the number and give their personal details to the official, who will fill their forms. There are around 300 physically challenged students, including 200 visually impaired. Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, PU, said for the visually impaired students, they were also planning to introduce Braille forms, which will further assist them in completing all examination and fee submission related formalities themselves.

He said for all semester or annual examinations, their forms will be filled by the officials and any regular or private student enrolled with the university could avail of the service. Recently, PU Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover had said as all examination-related services at the university were shifting online, the visually imparted students might face difficulty in getting their forms filled. He had asked the examination branch to immediately introduce a help line for such students so that they could complete all examination-related formalities without any trouble.
