Blind federation to hold protest march in Bathinda today

The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) will take out a protest march in Bathinda on Sunday. In a press release issued here on Saturday, NFB general secretary Ram Murti said the march would start at 8am from Lajjaya Devi Dharamshala near the railway station and would move towards the district Akali  Dal office and house of chief parliamentary secretary Saroop Chand Singla and will culminate at the house of the deputy commissioner.

He said the government did not keep its promise of converting 167 posts of ETT teachers into those of music teachers, tabla players and class-4 employees.

Ram Murti alleged that despite repeated assurances to them, the government did not schedule a meeting between the NFB and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. He said if the government did not facilitate the meeting or convert the said posts soon, they would hold a protest march to Lambi, the chief minister's constituency.
