Kalbani opens autism centre : Muscat

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Said Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, inaugurated the Speciality Center for Autism in Al Khuwair in the presence of HE Dr Yahia Bin Badr Al Maawali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development.

Kalbani praised the service and rehabilitation facilities available at the centre and its initiative in providing an integrated package of healthcare in light of the increased demands of people with autism.

Kalbani toured the centre accompanied by Hinda Abdul Aziz Al Barbosh, Director of the Centre, and his team. The minister was briefed on the services provided by the centre, its facilities, games room designed to suit the needs of the autistic child and safety features at the centre. He was also briefed on the treatment room that helps the child to learn everyday life skills and communication.

Kalbani was also briefed about the sensory room, which is a special room designed to develop autistic sense through special lighting, music, and objects.

The centre includes 15 beds that will be increased to 30 beds in the near future.

The Speciality Center for Autism is the first of its kind in the Sultanate in terms of providing integrated medical and rehabilitation service.
