Advocate Uttam Bahadur Shrestha on Wednesday filed a writ petition at
the Supreme Court (SC), challenging the Judicial Council's recent
decision to appoint juniors and less experienced applicants as judges.
In the writ, Shrestha claimed that he was the most senior and experienced among the recently-appointed 19 judged and has been continuously advocating at the court for 23 year and six months.
Meanwhile, advocate Shiva Hari Sharma also registered another writ petition for not appointing physically-challenged as a judge of appellate court.
He demanded mandamus order to appoint judges in the appellate courts and district courts based on seniority, merit and competence by scrapping the earlier decision of the Council.
The Judicial Council, acting Chief Justice and members of the Council have been named as defendants in the writ.
