Disabled friendly polling booths in Baglung : Nepal

Even the physically disabled persons will be able to vote in the forthcoming November 19 elections.


The District Election Office Baglung said preparations are being made to make three disabled-friendly polling booths in three constituencies of the district to ensure them voting rights.



They will be at Ramrekha Lower Secondary School Of Constituency No. 1, Janatadhan Higher Secondary of No. 2 and Uttarganga Higher Secondary of No. 3, said District Election Officer Tolaraj Upadhyay.



The hard of hearing, blind, those without speech, those without both hands and those not able to walk, among other disabilities can vote in the booths. According to the statistics, the district has some 856 disabled people in the voters list.



Meanwhile, three-day journalism training on trade and development began here from Friday under the aegis of the Nepal Press Institute coordinated by FNJ Baglung, and supported by World Bank Nepal branch.



Journalists from Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi, Kaski and Tanahu have been participating in the training.



The trainers NPI Director Prof. Chiranjivi Khanal, General Secretary Kundan Aryal, Prem Khanal and FNJ former Central Member Punya Poudel will facilitate.



Women Development Officer Laxmi GC Karki will facilitate on gender and Public Health Officer Sagar Dahal on health, said FNJ Assistant Secretary Ramakrishna Bohara.
