Aids and appliances such as wheelchairs and tricycles were handed
over to 454 CWSNs (child with special needs) at a solemn function
organised by Sarva Shiksa Abhiyan (SSA), Imphal West today at Lamyanba
Shanglen, Palace Compound.
Delivering the key-note address, ZEO/DPO (SSA) imphal West Zone-I
Gopimohon Maibam informed the beneficiaries were selected after an
'identification camp' conducted by the Rehabilitation Council of India
and State Medical Board.
Stating that the final selection procedure was carried out under the guidance of State Project Office, SSA, he said the items distributed today also included Braille, besides wheelchairs and tricycles.
As chief guest Imphal West district Deputy Commissioner Kh Radhakumar, who also Chairman (DBE), opined that every section of the society should contribute their mite in helping the differently able children live conveniently.
According to Assistant State Coordinator SSA/SMA B Joyrani SSA has
introduced a methodology under which children with disabilities could
pursue education based on home studies.
