 Members of the Tamil Nadu Differently abled Federation 
took out a a rally here on Sunday demanding implementation of welfare 
measures.
Through a resolution passed by the 
federation in a meeting held after the rally, the forum urged the 
government to provide a monthly assistance of Rs. 3,000 to all the 
crawling differently-abled. 
Three per cent 
reservation should be provided to them in jobs, on the lines of a 
similar provision for the visually challenged, its members said.
They
 further asked the government to provide employment to the family 
members of the crawling disabled, maintain a rest room in all the bus 
stands with wheelchair facilities, and ramps in all the government 
offices and public places.
Their other demands were: 
the government should create a helpline for the differently abled, a 
committee must be formed to address the grievances of the differently 
abled women; and a law must be enacted to protect their rights. The 
district administration should organise a grievance redress meeting for 
the differently abled once in three months and give loans to them, they 
demanded. 
Three-wheeled motor vehicles must be 
distributed to all the differently abled people and employment 
opportunities must be created for them, the forum said.
 President K.J.T. Pushparaj, secretary S. Raja and treasurer J. Jasmine were present.
Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa flagged off the rally and extended solidarity.
