A 29-year-old differently-abled woman has sought police help to
reunite with her 29-year-old husband, who allegedly got married to
another woman and deserted her. The woman alleged that he married her
secretly, impregnated her, aborted her child and later married another
woman in secrecy.
According to her complaint, the woman met Bhaskar, a private company employee, when she was in Class X. They later fell in love and she moved in with Bhaskar to Karapakkam after he promised marriage.
The woman alleged that Bhaskar took her to Tirupati saying he would marry her there but brought her back without doing so. Instead, they got married at their home, she added. She later found out about his plans to marry again but could do nothing to prevent it.
Bhaskar then stopped calling her and visited her only once to say that he married the other woman due to family compulsions. The woman also alleged that she was beaten up by Bhaskar’s family.
When she found about her pregnancy and informed Bhaskar, he allegedly gave her a ‘calcium pill’ to kill the foetus. The woman is now in the care of Tamil Nadu Udavikkaram Association for the Welfare of Differently Abled, which has complained to the Commissioner of Police about Bhaskar. Association members said the police have promised necessary action against him.
