Society for Special Persons (SSP) has urged the incoming
government of Pakistan Muslim League (N) to involve special persons in
policy formation prior to shaping out the national
budget for next fiscal year. Chairperson SSP Zahida Hameed while
talking to APP stated that special persons were ignored and not included
at policy making levels.
She remarked that there were 12 to 15 per cent special persons in the country, including those with physical disability, and adio/visual impairment. She cited that special persons were given importance at policy making throughout the Europe and added that such persons with special needs be given priority by the next government. She advocated creation of physio-therapy centres in south Punjab for rehabilitation of special persons. “Multan lacks institution for higher education for special persons”, she regretted and urged the incoming government to improve the situation for education, healthcare.
