Sun TV puts the spotlight on the differently-abled with new show Champions

Further fortifying its focus on reality shows, Sun TV Network has launched a new show ‘Champions’ that offers an opportunity to the country’s differently-abled people to showcase their talent at dancing, singing, playing instruments, mimicry, acrobatics and more.

******************************************************
The show is telecast once a week across Sun TV Network channels – Sun TV, Surya, Gemini and Udaya. Each of the four Southern languages has their panel of two permanent celebrity judges and one walk-in special judge every week from the film industry. The performances are weighed on an equal platform of skill, talent and overall presentation with cash prizes to be won equalling the points the participants score in every round.

Speaking about the show, Aldam Jacob, Network Head, Non-Fiction, Sun TV Network said, “‘Champions’ is a show offering an awesome platform for the physically handicapped people, who can entertain despite their physical hurdles and nobody goes home empty handed in this show. The concept of the show has been conceived and executed for the first time in the history of television worldwide with a reality talent hunt for the differently-abled.”

He further said, “This show is very close to our hearts. We are ensuring that we don’t compromise on any front. We also have equipped ourselves to take care of the physically handicapped throughout the life of this show. We want to make a positive impact in their lives and celebrate them.”

Tejeswani is anchoring the Tamil version of the show, which is judged by actor-cum-director Revathy and Pattimandram Raja. On Gemini TV, the show is hosted by Shamala and Abhinaya Krishna, while it is judged by Gauthami and Naga Babu. Udaya TV has Deepa and Anand hosting the show, with Laxmi and Srinath as the judges. Surya TV has Deepa and Rahul as anchors, while Laxmi and MG Sreekumar are the judges.

‘Champions’ is targeted at all age groups since it is a family show. The sponsors for Gemini TV, Surya TV and Udaya TV are Dabur Vatika, while for Sun TV the sponsors are V Care and Dabur Vatika. The show is being promoted on Sun TV Network’s own FM radio stations – Red FM and Suryan FM, and newspapers such as Dinakaran.

Meanwhile, Sun TV Network is all set to launch a new singing talent hunt show for the 50+ age group in Malayalam and Kannada. The show will give a chance to talented people who never got a stage or a platform in their younger days.
