PCAPH affairs go to the court : ISLAMABAD

The battle to control affairs of Pakistan Cricket Association for Physically Handicapped (PCAPH) turned nasty as newly-elected chairman Raja Imran Hussain on Friday managed to take stay from the court of Civil Judge First Class Rasool Bakhsh Mirjat.

The court after hearing granted stay in favor of Imran Hussain and order to refrain Abbas Hashmi from utilizing the PCAPH accounts till December 5, thus prohibited Abbas Hashmi-led PCAPH from using its name or any other activity till the date of next hearing.

Talking to The Nation on Friday, Raja said: “I have long warned Abbas Hashmi and his close aides to stop using the PCAPH name, as they are no longer office-bearers after fresh elections of the association were conducted in December last year and the PCAPH executive body approved the name of Raja Imran as the PCAPH chairman in June this year. But despite several warnings and reminders, Hashmi continued using the PCAPH name and also utilized funds in the name of the association and when we demanded to provide the details of the accounts, our requests were fallen on deaf ears.”

“The players have been suffering since long at the hands of the previous management and I was left with no other option but to seek the court help to streamline the affairs of the association,” he added.
“Hashmi is once again taking team to India to play a match on December 3 on World Disabled Day.

Despite being fully aware of the fact that Indians owe PCAPH Indian rupees 160,000 which the players had won by virtue of winning the last series and despite several requests made to Indian PCCAI secretary Ravi Chauhan to clear the outstanding amount, Hashmi continued to use delaying tactics and now without resolving the issue, he is once again all set to take the team to India,” he asserted.

“It is my humble request to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, to whom we had already submitted a return request, to look into this matter of grave importance and order a detailed inquiry and punish the culprits,” Imran concluded. When this scribe contacted Hashmi to seek his comments in this regard, he said: “I have not received any court notice yet and when I receive then I will be able to comment on this issue. But I would like to clear one thing that is we are the real and legal body.”
