Rajasthan government has decided to consider dwarfs as differently-abled
in order to make them eligible for social security pension under the
category of differently-abled candidates.
The decision was taken among other such steps to simplify rules for providing social security pension to various sections at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Dwarfs, those who have height less than 3 feet 6 inch, will have to produce a medical certificate to obtain the pension, according to a spokesperson.
Social security pension rules for women who are married but are living separately from their husbands and those under Below Poverty Line were also relaxed and simplified so that maximum candidates can get advantage of government schemes.
The state social justice Minister Ashok Bairwa, Chief Secretary C K Mathew, Principal Secretary (Finance) Govind Sharma and other officers were present in the meeting.
