Mattanchery police have arrested a person, who allegedly molested a
15-year-old differently-abled girl residing at a rented house in
Mattanchery.
The arrested person was identified as Kannan, 42, of Manopoly.
According to police, Kannan, the girl’s neighbour, had molested her when her father and brother were out for work.
However, when the father got to know about this, he registered a complaint against Kannan on Wednesday.
After the incident, Kannan went absconding and he was arrested by police on Thursday.
Police officials said a case has been registered against Kannan under IPC Sections 462 and 354 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
He was produced before the court on Friday which remanded him in judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Kannamaly police have registered a case after parents of a minor girl submitted a complaint that she was sexually abused by a person living near her house in Kannamaly.
The police have refused to reveal the identity of the accused as they would be arresting him soon.
A police official said the accused allegedly abused the girl when her parents were not at home.
