The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to put forth a
coordination mechanism to attain 100 per cent coverage during the
upcoming polio campaign.
CDA Chairman Nadeem Hassan Asif, while chairing a coordination meeting at the CDA headquarters, said the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) would be strengthened to retain Islamabad’s status as a polio-free city. The meeting was held to review the gaps observed during the previous polio campaign.
He said the DHS would be strengthened in terms of human resource to attain 100 per cent coverage during the upcoming polio campaign.
The CDA chairman said besides a door-to-door campaign, the civic body would also establish polio transit camps at the Sangjani Toll Plaza and the Motorway Toll Plaza to administer polio drops to children entering the capital.
While directing other formations of the authority to coordinate and assist the Health Services, The CDA chairman directed all officials to cooperate with the DHS and make this campaign a success.
Asif requested the National Highways Authority (NHA), the Motorway Police and the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to assist polio workers so that polio drops could be administered to every child.
The Health Services director apprised the chairman about the targets achieved during the last polio campaign. He briefed the CDA chairman on the action plan for achieving 100 per cent coverage for the polio campaign.
Representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO), the NHA, the ITP and officers of other formations of the CDA were present in the meeting. agencies.
