Vikalangula Hakkula Jatheeya Nivedika State president VVSLK Prasad has
demanded that the State government increase the handicapped persons’
pension to Rs 2000 per month.
Accompanied by several handicapped persons, Prasad met the Additional Joint Collector of Hyderabad Rekha Rani here on Monday and urged her to increase their pension. He explained to the AJC that thousands of handicapped people were facing severe troubles in the district and asked her to solve their problems.
He said the laws relating to the handicapped persons were not being implemented properly. He said the handicapped people also did not receive Anthyodhaya cards as well as house sites so far. He said though the Supreme Court directed the governments to provide 35 kg rice and Anthyodhaya cards to the handicapped people, the latter were not implementing them.
Prasad demanded that the government increase the pension from Rs 500 to Rs 2000 and allot three percent budget to the handicapped people according to GO No.1 and construct the houses to them.
