Physically Challenged Rights Forum State president
V.V.S.L.K Prasad on Monday urged the district administration to increase
the monthly pension being paid to physically challenged persons from
Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000.
During the ‘Mee Kosam’
programme held at Hyderabad Collectorate, Mr. Prasad said many
physically challenged persons in the capital were leading a pathetic
life due to lack of house sites, Anthyodaya cards and other facilities.
Despite
the Supreme Court instructing to provide 35 kg rice in addition to
Anthyodaya cards to all physically challenged persons, these orders were
not being implemented, he alleged. In view of these difficulties, there
is a necessity to increase the monthly pension paid to them to Rs.
2,000, he requested Additional Joint Collector Rekha Rani at the
meeting, said a press release.
At the meeting, the
Additional Joint Collector received many applications pertaining to
sanction of house sites, pensions, ration cards etc.
