Collector M. Karunagaran on Monday gave away educational assistance
worth Rs. 18.50 lakh to 37 school students from the city who had either
lost their income earning parent or income generation capability.
According to an official release, each student was provided Rs. 50,000
by the State Government to ensure their education continued.
Further, acting on a petition, he also gave as accident relief a sum of
Rs. 1.02 lakh to a farmer under the ‘Uzahavar Padhukappu Thittam.’
Mr. Karunagaran also sanctioned a monthly assistance of Rs.1,000 to
three differently able persons after they had submitted a petition on
Sunday.
Old age pension
The Collector also received petitions seeking pattas, Old Age Pension,
ration cards, employment, inclusion into Below Poverty Line list, aid
under the schemes for differently abled, removal of encroachments and
education loan.
He forwarded the petitions to the officials concerned and directed to take action.
