Scania to Deliver 360 City Buses in Malaysia

Scania will deliver to Malaysia 360 city buses which will operate in the Kuala Lumpur, which is the capital of the country and in the city of Kuantan. The Scania K 250 UB4x2 city bus has a low-floor chassis and also handicap access capability thanks to its ramp for full wheelchair access and also the two docking slots with seat belts for safe wheelchair anchorage. The material used for the bus body was aluminum, which reduces fuel consumption and weight, but also extends the bus’ life.
“Scania buses and coaches are renowned for their fuel economy, reliability, safety and comfort. Each component is engineered to heighten the performance of the vehicle. With our new engine platform, Scania buses are now capable of higher torques at lower revs and even lower fuel consumption. Each model can also be customised in terms of passenger capacity, seating plans, comfort levels and other key criteria as required,” says James Armstrong, Managing Director of Scania Malaysia.

Two months ago, Siemens and Scania closed a deal to develop electric powertrains for trucks. The companies plan to make commercial vehicles combining Siemens’ power-supply expertise and Scania’s knowledge of bus power trains and electric trucks.
